NewApple not only abandoned the start button, but moved from the company's Lightning connector to the USB-C connector, which is much more common. With USB-C, the iPad can use a wide range of accessories and peripherals, including external monitors.
This was something Apple talked about during iPad Pro's announcement. The thing is, it's not as simple as you might think.
It is not a brand new feature
Ability to mask the iPad screen on the external display has been possible for years over the HDMI adapter (30-pin or flash).
The new iPad Pro makes it easy to see, thanks to its USB-C port. It also allows you to work with screens with a resolution of up to 5 kt.
What do you need
All USB-C connections are not the same. For example, iPad Pro does not support Thunderbolt 3 screens, although the connector looks similar to the USB-C connector.
IPad Pro uses the DisplayPort standard, but requires a fast cable to be sent at 5K resolution. Apple is proposing a Belkin USB-C-USB-C cable or Apple's Thunderbolt 3 USB-C cable as a way to unlock the entire performance.
This is a good example of how confusing to navigate what works and when: The LG UltraFine 4K screen is compatible with USB-C and works in conjunction with the iPad Pro without any other adapters. The LG UltraFine 5K screen, on the other hand, is based on Thunderbolt 3 and does not work with the iPad Pro.
I try to explain and make it easy.
- If you have a USB-C-USB-C socket, you can connect directly to your iPad Pro, probably with the supplied monitor cable.
- For all other displays, a suitable adapter (USB-C for HDMI, USB-C for DisplayPort, etc.) is required.
- Some monitors also provide power to the iPad Pro by downloading it as it is used.
- Some do not charge, so you need an adapter such as Apple's USB-C digital AV multiplier or iPad's end battery.
How apps behave
Most iPad Pro plugging on the screen simply reflects the iPad screen. What you see on your iPad, you can see it on the screen. However, some applications can do more on another screen.
When you use iMovie, for example, you can make an edit screen on the screen or you can choose to display the project screen on the screen by selecting an external display button. In photos, pictures are displayed on a black background on an external screen and when a video is played, it is only displayed on the screen.
Other applications, such as Adobe Lightroom, will not give you the ability to choose what is displayed anywhere. Instead, it looks like an edited image at any time.
The application configuration There are some options if you have problems with the quality of the screen or the quality of the TV displayed on your TV.
opens Settings> Display and brightness and then select the currently connected screen. When you are there, you can adjust the brightness of the external display and adapt the output of the iPad Pro.
