DUBAI: Miss Universe 2018 host Steve Harvey took social media to share a video message with Egyptian fans in which Miss Philippines got the crown on Sunday night saying they should be proud of Miss Egypt.
"He represented the country so well, well, all in Egypt should be so proud, he's not just beautiful, he's a wonderful person, Egypt, you have a lot to be proud of," Harvey said in a video posted to the @missegyptuniversefficial Instagram account.
"It was a pleasure to meet @ iamsteveharveytv and thanks for contacting me. That means a lot, and I really appreciate it," Miss Egypt Nariman Khaled sent her to her Instagram account.
At the same time Philippines around the world picked up Miss Philippines Catriona Gray crowned this year Miss Universe – the country's fourth woman to win the title.
Filipino-Australian Gray was crowned in a glittering ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 24-year-old beauty rose with the South African and Venezuelan representatives in the final contest of the competition, where they were asked the same question: "What is the most important lesson you have learned in your life and how to apply it at a time like Miss Universe?"
Gray responded by talking about his work in the slum community in the capital of the Philippines, where he focuses on educating young people in the community.
"I work with a lot of Tondo, Manila, and life is very poor, sad, and I have always taught myself to look for the beauty in it, have a look at (ka) children's beauty and to be grateful for," he said.
"If I could teach people to be grateful, we could have an amazing world where negativity could not grow and grow, and the kids smile on their faces," he added.
The Philippines in Dubai tuned to see the pattern crowned.
"I just landed a five-day trip, but I did not want to leave the live stream", Filipinilainen flight officer Rachel Manalo told the Arab News for and added that he was awake in the morning early in the morning just to take a look at the challenge.

"Miss Gray really did the whole Filipino proud when he was on a global stage and introduced authentic features that defined the beauty of the Philippines: trust, grace, intelligence and strength in the face of the tough challenges," he said in the statement of the President of the Palace.
"Miss Philippines have successfully demonstrated to the world that women in our country have the ability to transform their dreams into reality through passion, diligence, determination and hard work."
