Lebanon faces more financial risks than Israeli military victims: Speaker – Xinhua

BEIJING, November 11 (Xinhua) – Lebanese President Nabih Berri said on Sunday that the current risk in Lebanon is economic and not military because Israel is not afraid to attack Lebanon, the National News Agency (NNA) said.

"In addition to our national unity, Hezbollah does not give Israel any attack on Lebanon," Berri said in a statement by NNA.

If the situation remains unchanged, we will go into a dangerous zone, he added, referring to the delay in forming the government.

The Lebanese speaker has repeatedly urged all political parties to compromise in order to reach an agreement on the formation of the government in the midst of economic downturn.

Lebanese's public debt at the end of June was $ 82.95 billion, up $ 76.5 billion from the previous year, according to Byblos Bank's economic paper.

Lebanon has to make major reforms to curb its public debt, including the modernization of the electricity sector, which costs over $ 2 billion annually.
