Regularity of the Moon, Jupiter and Saturn .. Monday morning

Seeing in the beautiful, naked eye, it’s a great opportunity to photograph

Astronomical Jeddah: regularity of the moon, Jupiter and Saturn .. Monday morning

Majed Abu Zahra, an engineer, director of the Jeddah Astronomical Society, revealed the existence of an astronomical phenomenon observed in the skies of Saudi Arabia and the Arab world before sunrise on Monday, April 5, 2021 morning. is the regularity of the moon, Saturn, and Jupiter on the eastern horizon with a magnificent view to the naked eye, which is an opportunity for astronomical photography.

Engineer Abu Zahra attributed this phenomenon to the fact that the moon moves from day to day east toward the “sunrise” in relation to the stars and planets of the zodiac, apparently in the next few years near Saturn and then Jupiter.

Abu Zahra said that at the moment both Jupiter and Saturn are in front of the constellation Capricorn, and they are also heading east in front of the horoscope stars, but much slower than the moon when the moon takes about 27 days to make a full circle in front of the zodiac, but Jupiter takes 12 years and Saturn for 30 years.

He pointed out that the moon leaves the constellation Capricorn in the constellation of Aquarius in several days, but Jupiter does not reach the constellation of Aquarius until April 25, 2021, like Saturn, the farthest planet that can be easily seen by the eye alone, it stays in front of the constellation Capricorn for the rest of Jupiter stays in front of the constellation for a certain time. About a year when Saturn lasts about two and a half years.

The leader of the Jeddah Astronomical Society revealed that Jupiter travels about 30 degrees east per year in front of the stars of the zodiac circle in one year, while Saturn travels about 12 degrees east per year, the ancients correctly observed that Saturn must fall farther from Earth than Jupiter moves in its way , slower and the ancients were right.

And he continued: Because the ancients were experienced observers, they observed the planets (Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn) orbiting outside the orbit of the planet moving backward (to the west). However, the ancients had difficulty devising a model that could explain these backward movements, which are unclear to them, this is because the ancient people believed for the most part that the planets orbit the earth and not the sun.

He continued: The moon always moves east and never moves backwards. On the other hand, the planets – Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn – are usually facing east, but they sometimes move backward (west). In addition, that planet always shines beautifully in the earth’s sky in the middle of a backward motion, because this planet is the opposite of the sun in the earth’s sky.

And he concluded: In general, the farther a planet is from the sun, the longer the time of its backward motion is. Because the distances of these worlds differ somewhat in the orbit of the sun and during approximately backward motion: Mars (two months), Jupiter (4 months), and Saturn (4 and a half months).
