It is no secret that a healthy diet is the best prevention for preventing diseases such as diabetes, strokes, heart disease or even cancer. According to the World Health Organization, malnutrition and lack of physical exercise are currently a major health threat worldwide. It does not seem easy – we eat better, move and stay healthy, but is it really easy?
In 2016, Eurostat's survey of the European Union (EU) statistical office shows that every sixth country living in Europe is suffering from obesity. This is a serious public health problem because it significantly increases the risk of chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and other diseases.
At the same time, a quarter of adults in the world, ie around 1.4 billion, are not enough for active sports. According to the researchers, the lack of physical activity is dangerous for humans, as well as smoking, diabetes or heart disease and can sometimes have serious consequences. For 20 minutes a day you should spend at least walking, jogging, swimming or other favorite sports.
Some figures really make you worried. European Day of European Cancer, November 8, European countries are trying to repeat the importance of healthy eating for health.
Healthy foods: apples, broccoli, walnuts, avocados, dried fruits, olive oil.
"Over the last 20 to 30 years, food has changed dramatically in Lithuania – fast food has increased or, for example, has grown in chocolate containing plenty of salt and sugar etc. Dietary changes and proteins such as chicken are antibiotics that cause certain hormonal changes, increase estrogen Professor KTU, "Modern Wellness Strategies, # student_2018", a healthy lifestyle and nutrition specialist dr. Artūras Sujeta.
What food is a healthy choice today?
The answer to the question of what is healthy is, again, simple. It is food that supplies the body with the necessary materials: proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins.
According to Sujeta, the diet should have more nutrition and sports clubs, scientists who use human health selections such as apples, broccoli, walnuts, avocados, useful dried fruits, olive oil,
It is very important for a healthy diet to use enough fiber, so keep in mind the use of fiber with food. The easiest way to get them is to choose fruit, vegetable or sandwich for all parts of the bread for snacks.
There are snacks that A.Sujeta advises to pay attention to. "For example, if you drink coffee with milk and sugar, the body treats that snack, so" eaten "such a snack (like others), you will not eat it for several hours to normalize blood sugar."
Researchers also point out that functional foods are dietary foods that eat daily and have a physiological effect on the human body except for the nutritional content. These foods contain food ingredients that are active during the production process (the active ingredients of such foods may be dietary fiber, polyhedrine, bran, gastrointestinal tract and many others).
Experts believe that functional food maintains optimal human health but also satisfies healthy eating habits.
"Functional food is considered to be a food of the 21st century," says Professor Rimantas Petras Venskutonis of Chemical Technology at the Faculty of Chemistry at KTU Chemistry.
How to start a sport?
"By comparing the situation 100 years ago and now we reduced our movements around four times," emphasizes A. Sujeta. Sports because it is physically active is not as important as a healthy diet. It is recommended that at least 18 years old adults spend at least 150 minutes per week on medium-aerobic exercise (fast walking, cycling, running, etc.) for exercise or at least 75 minutes for intense aerobic exercise.
A health lifestyle expert emphasizes that regardless of the age of the person – a child, an adult or an elder – must move to everyone and not require specific conditions.
"There is no excuse to be a sport, basic conditions are enough, even if a student living in barracks can go to the yard", A. Sujeta doubts and adds that students who say they can not do sports is astonishing.
According to him, starting with smaller goals and investments, the desire and determination to make sport does not disappear from the first major goals.
Universities also try to create favorable conditions for student sports. For example, KTU has been active for another year in an active sports club where students can use free of charge and get advice on sports and nutrition issues.
