Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the latest strategic creative partner for the upcoming PlayStation 5 console: American rapper Travis Scott.
The news was first shared on a PlayStation blog post on Friday, October 23, followed by the rapper’s own social media posts. According to the announcement, the ‘Sicko Mode’ laptop is one of the few executives Sony contacted for several future collaborations.
Also, a video with Travis Scott in front of a massive game setup and a bunch of other people working on developing different aspects of the PS5 has been released. Check it out below.
“We heard that Travis is a huge PlayStation fan, so we started a conversation with him that led to this unique partnership,” Eric Lempel, vice president of PlayStation, said. “With a passionate focus on gaming and creativity, we plan to partner with Travis and his Cactus Jack brand to produce innovative projects that we hope will delight collective fans.”
Travis Scott released the same press release also issued a statement: “I look forward to being able to showcase everything that Cactus Jack has worked for Sony and the PlayStation team with Most importantly, I am excited to see how PlayStation fans and family members will react, and I look forward to some games to play. with everyone soon! “
It is currently unclear what kind of projects Sony has put in Scott’s Cactus Jack brand. The collaboration marks Scott’s latest project in the gaming world after his record-breaking virtual gig Fortnite in April earlier this year.
Sony’s PlayStation 5 consoles are scheduled for release on November 12 in the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. The PS5 is expected to be received by the rest of the world on November 19th.
