COVID-19: Supervised CHSLD Cook units

A new outbreak of COVID-19 is coming over the CHSLD Cooke in Trois-Rivières, where two units are currently under close surveillance by CIUSSS de la Mauricie-Center-du-Québec after two health workers have contracted the disease.

CIUSSS Mauricie-Center-du-Québec placed the D2 and D3 units in an “energized” state for an unfinished evening. This means increased vigilance and possible communication between employees and users. Infected workers became infected with the virus outside the walls of the facility and were placed in isolation.

An outbreak at Cooke CHSLD has not yet been reported by health authorities because two infected people would have been infected differently. Remember that hatching requires at least two combined positive cases.

Last winter, 28 people died in the outbreak at this facility.

The CIUSSS-MCQ continues to closely monitor the epidemiological situation in the region. In one week, the number of active cases increased from 19 to 72.

The broadcast is much more powerful in Mauritius than in Center-du-Québec. In addition, the Trois-Rivières sector is in the third province with a percentage of COVID-19 per 100 000 inhabitants at 27.8.
