Davis, Randle double double lead to Pelicans past Suns 119-99



NEW ORLEANS – Anthony Davis had 26 points and 12 rebounds when New Orleans Pelicans won the Phoenix Suns on Saturday night.

Davis led four pelicans in double digits. New Orleans could never win another straight game after losing six games.

Julius Randle was also double the double, finishing 22 points and 16 rebounds. Jrue Holiday made 19 points and E & Twaun Moore was 17.

TJ Warren led to 25 points in the sun, Deandre Ayton scored 20 and grabbed 12 rebounds and Devin Booker scored 12 points.

It was the first time in 10 games when New Orleans won 10 or more points.

Pelicans dominated the plates that crossed the sun, 53-37.

Pelicans scored the first seven points and retained most of the pleasant margin, but could not remove the sun until mid-fourth.

New Orleans, who led to half-time 61-53, made the first seven points in the third quarter with free throws and added a lead to 72-58.

Pelicans led as far as 18 years in the third quarter, but saw lead shrinking to 91-82 after three quarters.

New Orleans started fourth in the 9-2 round of the 100-84 lead. It continued its lead even though coach Alvin Gentry took his newcomer.

Pelicans also took advantage of free throw opportunities in the first quarter. They led 33-26 after the opening period when Davis scored 10 points, despite the fact that he made only one goal. He made all eight bad shots.

New Orleans led by as much as 13 points in the second quarter, but Phoenix made the last five points in the season to equalize 61-53 at half-time.

The Sun: Phoenix has won only one game, as it won the Dallas 121-100 opening season on October 17. F T.J. Warren, who left the bench most of the time, started another consecutive game. F Julius Randle is usually a Pelican bench but has been pushed on several occasions. He started three times as the injured Anthony Davis during the last five matches. He returned to the bench when Davis returned two games then, but returned to the starting match on Saturday instead of the injured Nikola Mirotic. Randle had 22 points and 16 rebounds.
