SINGAPORE – The Republic of Malaysia's Supreme Commission has described an online news article that combines Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal with counterfeit news and ineffectiveness.
On Wednesday (November 7), the article was made on the Coverage site, which describes itself as a "social news network operating in Malaysia". The article's source was mentioned in the "Straights Review" and was linked to a similar article on the Times Times Review website.
In response to the Malaysian media polls, Singapore's Supreme Commission in Malaysia referred to the article "Breaking News: Singapore Lee Hsien Loong Changes to 1MDB's Key Investigation Goals – Najib signed a number of unfair contracts with Hsien Loong in exchange for money laundering" and said: "The Malaysian High Representative for Singapore would categorically say this article is a fake news and clearly a trumpet. "
Former Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Razak faces corruption practices in the misuse of 1MDB funds, which was set up in 2009.
