Ajman, November 10 (WAM) – The Emirates Water Marathon Challenge, organized by the Ajman Tourism Institute, was launched yesterday with the slogan "We accept the challenge" at the Ajman Corniche event with Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Humaid Al Nuaim.
The competition is part of Dubai's 30/30 Fitness Challenge, launched by his Majesty Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince of Dubai and chair of the Dubai Sports Council and is attending Ajman for the first time.
The Marathon – divided into two categories – professional and amateur – was highly competitive with a large number of families and spectators who rolled Cornichee to follow the first marathon in the emirate.
Saleh Al Jazairi, head of the Ajman Tourism Department, said: "UAE Marathon is part of the ministry's plans to promote tourism in Emirates by organizing sports events that are of great interest to Emirates residents and promote the prime minister as an important tourist destination, and is also an important venue for big sport events in the country.
Al Jazair expressed great satisfaction with the high technical level of the marathon and the atmospheric suitability through which Ajman Corniche was built.
"We thank all the participants for this challenge and we are constantly striving to provide the necessary support to sporting events and to sponsor Ajman's various activities and initiatives to ensure that all aspects of life are promoted and contribute to the development of Emirates and make them the most important," Saud Al Jazmi, maintains tourism and sporting events.
Sheikh Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi won first place in the Sunni Amateurs' 40th anniversary contest involving 38 different Emirates and Gulf States.
At the end of the competition, prizes were awarded to the winners.
