Sony has announced that it has pushed the latest Android 9.0 Pie software upgrade to three smartphones for its current configuration – Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact. This update brings the latest model number 47.2.A.0.306 to all these smartphones and also updates the Android security update to October 2018. The Android Pie upgrade is expected to feature features such as a re-designed camera application interface, full-HD slow video 960 frames per second, and HDR enhancements. So far, Sony does not accept the new gesture navigation in Android Pie, but may arrive in the upcoming update.
It should be recalled that Sony had confirmed last month that Xperia XZ Premium, Xperia XZ1 and Xperia XZ1 Compact would receive an Android Pie update by October 26th. However, the Japanese phone manufacturer has not fulfilled its promises because of the delayed bug squashing, says Xperia Blog. This may be because the update will take place in October security update instead of the latest version of November 2018.
The report also suspects that the selfie camera's flash may be part of this update. The upgrade has been limited to areas and models but is expected to be available in the near future. The Xperia XZ2 Premium is shown on the next line for Android Pie.
Last month, Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact announced their arrival on the Android 9.0 update for the same October security update. Sony has also confirmed that Xperia XA2, Xperia XA2 Ultra and Xperia XA2 Plus will be upgraded early next year.
