California's Cupertino – Apple today announced that it voluntarily returns a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units that contain a battery that can overheat and pose a security risk. The units were mainly sold between September 2015 and February 2017 and can be identified by the product's serial number.
Reminder does not affect other 15-inch MacBook Pro units or other Mac computers.
To confirm which model is available, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu () in the upper left corner of the screen. If you have a “MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, mid-2015), enter the serial number of your computer on the program page to see if it is eligible to replace the battery.
